Introduction

Debuting with the award-winning To Remain Vigilant, this 3-book series features the real-life Sir Harry Percy (circa 1360-1403), regarded as the leading knight in England (if not the greatest anywhere), a man lauded by bards and envied by princes. Even the Scots, his frequent adversaries, admire him, claiming his vigilance in thwarting raids means his spurs never cool.

        They call him Hotspur.

But Richard II and Henry IV bestow another name, traitor, after he challenges royal corruption and raises a question still relevant today:

Is the king above the law?

       Thus the lines are drawn…

The trilogy presents Hotspur’s story in a unique way for the first time ever. While cast as fiction, the tale it tells is largely true.

To Remain Vigilant: Book I of the Epic of Hotspur, won the Chanticleer Reviews and Media organization’s international Chaucer Award for the best 2024 historical novel set in the Middle Ages. To Be Worthy in Honor: Book II of the Epic of Hotspur, came out in May. BWL Publishing Inc. handled both books. Work proceeds on the third volume, tentatively titled To Tread on Kings.

Intended as a resource for individual readers, book clubs, college students who might read the trilogy alongside non-fiction works in classes on medieval Britain, and anyone else curious, this website currently contains a list of online vendors of the Epic of Hotspur, sketches of major characters, chapter-by-chapter notes for To Remain Vigilant and a bibliography of sources for the whole trilogy; and a bit on my biographical background. In further developing it, I hope to add more photos and other items.
